My Micro-Ring Hair Extensions | Hair

As I'm sure you all know by now I love wearing hair extensions, as my natural hair is very short and fine. My hair extension of choice used to be the clip-in's but a lot of the time I would't end up wearing them because I either didn't have the time or I simply couldn't be bothered. That is the problem with clip-in hair extensions, they are a big 'faff' to put them in and you have to remove them every evening before bed.
I have wanted to try micro-ring hair extensions for a while now so I decided to do some research and I found thehairclinic in Liverpool. The reviews I read are all really positive and their prices are very reasonable (the majority I found in my local area where extortionate).

What are micro-rings?
Unlike other hair extension methods, these do not damage your hair because they don't use heat or glue to fuse the hair extensions in place. Very small pieces of your natural hair are pulled through a loop and attached to the extensions using a tiny metal ring. The ring is then tightened, close to the roots, using pliers.

First up the girls who fit the hair extensions are lovely. They are really friendly, helpful and professional. At my free consultation I chose the aaa grade human hair extensions in 18 inch. George fitted my extensions which took around 1 hour (including styling) which I was amazed at. I thought I'd be sitting in the chair for hours. The first few nights after the fitting they did feel slightly uncomfortable against my scalp when I was trying to sleep but this eased quickly and now I don't feel them in my head at all. Overall I LOVE my new hair and I can no longer live without them. They are also really easy to style and blend well with my natural hair (even though my hair is very short). You do have to visit your stylist every 6-8 weeks for maintenance. During this appointment your stylist will replace any lost hair extensions, move the hair extensions closer to the root (as with your natural hair growth the extensions will move down slightly) and remove any natural hair that has shed and got caught up in the micro-rings.

I can't rate these ladies highly enough and if your interested in getting hair extensions feel free to contact them The Hair Clinic.

Have you ever tried micro-ring hair extensions? Do you love them as much as I do? What is your hair extension of choice and why?

  2. I use clip ins, I did have extensions sown in but they ruined my hair and I lost a hair as they seemed to matt my hair together, when I went back to have the cornrows re tightened they didn't do it properly and it messed up my hair. I would love to try micro ring but I thought they would mess up my hair as well. I'm only using them to help with growing my hair.

    1. I've also tried the sewn-in method years ago and I didn't like them either, these however are amazing and they do not damage your at all providing you take care of them properly. I will be doing a follow-up post on this soon so keep your eyes peeled xx
